Inside the galaxy I carry in my blood
within the solar system bouncing around my bones
Circling the planet I keep safe within
twelve moons revolve
Midway through their revolutions, evolution
I come back to the reflected light they send up and down
waxing and waning, growing and diminishing
I never wait for the exact time
To feel the pull of solstice moon is to
ride a wave home
nothing special happens if you check the charts
mark the date, sit down to wait
The moon is always there, shining brightly somewhere,
clouds and too many city lights
will not diminish its silver tears
will not stop its wisdom
Within the phases
within the cycles
there circling your nimbus clouds
something pulls you along
The moon is a cold chunk of rock
Yes, it glows, but has a dark cold side
it will welcome your laments
your joy, your cry, your howl
You don’t have to be good or wise
It rises and reflects
without judgement
on your path
In the winter night
gravity and tides
cosmic rays and solar light
these things are part of life
There is something waiting
waiting for your eyes
no one else will distinguish
its promise and its lies
Within the galaxies swirling in your blood
a place waits for you in the dark and in the light
your mind, your heart, the science of your life
searching for you with silver light.
Inside the galaxies we carry in our blood
within the solar systems bouncing on our bones
Circling the planet we keep safe within
twelve moons revolve,
Waiting to sing.
